Posts to monitor road accidents will appear in Krasnoyarsk

8 April 14:15

Road accident monitoring posts will appear in the Krasnoyarsk intelligent transport management system.

The mayor's office reported that by the end of the year they plan to install them in several areas along Kalinin and Karaulnaya streets, as well as the avenue named after the Krasnoyarsky Rabochiy newspaper. The contractor with whom the contract will be concluded will have to inspect the sites, determine the best points for placing equipment, including video cameras, install it, lay cable lines, ensure data transmission of the required quality and set up uninterrupted operation.

The video monitoring system is being integrated into the Safe City complex. The equipment will allow you to monitor the road situation and quickly identify accidents and other incidents – especially in difficult areas: descents, ascents, intersections, stops and crossings. Information will be transmitted automatically and without delay.

“The posts will complement the unified intelligent transport management system operating in the city. Their implementation is systematically carried out in agglomerations and cities with a population of more than 300 thousand people throughout the country. Krasnoyarsk was one of the first to begin this work and continues to improve the system every year. Controllers, detectors, sensors, displays, video cameras and other equipment are installed on the roads of the regional center. Data from it flows to the traffic control center of the MKU UDIB,” explained the press service of the city administration.

The main goal of implementing an intelligent transport system is to effectively manage traffic and ensure safety. It is used to adjust traffic lights at dangerous and busy intersections to provide better traffic options.

In addition to Krasnoyarsk, intelligent transport systems are being implemented in 24 regions of the country as part of the “System-wide measures for the development of road infrastructure” program. In the future, they will be able to analyze and regulate traffic not only within cities and regions, but also between different parts of the country.
