The union of the employees in the work apparatus of the government harshly criticizes the fiscal measures announced on Wednesday, in a press conference, by Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan. In a statement sent immediately after the official presentation of the package of reforms, the trade unionists denounce “a new episode of contempt for the needs and rights of the people”, warning that the executive risks “modernizing the state into a dangerous social experiment”.
“The prime minister of Romania continues to confuse the budget discipline with the administrative dictatorship. Instead of coming up with real solutions, anchored in the needs of the community, he again chose the path of blind cuts, masked austerity and decisions taken without public consultation. This type attitude” I know best “has become the brand of the administrative organization”,
The representatives of the employees claim that the announced measures are taken without public consultation and concern the general population, not the decision -making device.
“No governance has the moral legitimacy to ask for sacrifices while they refuse to sacrifice their own privileges. As long as the luxury at the peak of the state apparatus remains untouched, and those who have contributed to the budget disaster are protected, no Romanian should accept these measures,” says the union.
The union also denounces the differences between the treatments applied to the officials and those applied to the dignitaries and publicly formulates a series of questions.
- “Why do we not see discounts of allowances for members of all administration councils in state -of -the -art, national or local companies/ businesses?
- Why not see in this package the measure of reducing the number of members of the administration councils in state -of -the -art, national or local companies/ businesses?
- Why do we still have special pensions?
- Why is the result of the national referendum on the number of parliamentarians?
- Why not reduce the allowances of parliamentarians?
- Why at the Government of Romania a dignitary still spends between 21,000 lei and 30,000 lei to move (car, driver, fuel)?
- Why do some employees detached, transferred, state employees can accumulate the pension with the salary?
- Why does the Romanian prime minister consider that our wage package is not legally built and diminishes it according to the lust of the heart while publicly declaring that the allowances for the RCC judges who retire are legal? Why double measure?
- Why the Romanian prime minister does not touch the public administration nabbies that have salaries or monthly astronomical allowances (for example: Traian Preoteasa, general manager of CFR Călaturi: ~ 11 000, Traian Halalai, president Eximbank: ~ 30 500 €, Marius Dan Siulescu, General Manager Romsilva: ~ 8 900 000, Bogdan Neacșu: €, Daniel Istrate, director of STB București: ~ 12,000 €, director at Salrom: ~ 8,750 €, head of CNI: ~ 14 200 € etc.).“
The reduction of the excessive budget deficit will be done through three packages of measures that will be adopted successively in the coming months, Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan announced on Wednesday in a press conference. The first such package will be adopted by assuming the responsibility of the Government in the Parliament, the next week.
Among the measures that will be part of this project are VAT reassemble on two thresholds, general share to 21% and a reduced share of 11% (drugs, food, horeca), increase in dividends from 10% to 16%, increased alcohol, tobacco, fuel by 10%, freezing the increase of pensions and salaries in 2026 Pay the contribution to health, tax on banks' profits and gamble gains.
All the measures announced will enter into force from August 1, 2025, except for the increase of dividends taxes that will be applied from January 1, 2026.
