Combs was convicted of transport for the purpose of prostitution, but was acquitted by association with criminals and two charges on sexual trafficking-a partial victory for the former billionaire for his role in promoting hip-hop culture in the US.
After the judge released the juries and lawyers of the two parties, Combs sat in his knees in front of his chair and seemed to be praying. Then he got up and turned to the audience in the room.
“I'll get home soon”he said, smiling and shaking his hands. “I love you. Thank you, I love you”. The family and supporters of Combs broke out in applause and cheers.
The verdict came at the end of a criminal trial in which two of the former girlfriends of the musical mogul testified that he abused them physically and sexually.
Combs risks a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for each of the two charges related to prostitution. The Federal judge of sub -Ramanian will establish the sentence at a later date.
Paying for charges of sexual trafficking means that it avoids a mandatory minimum punishment of 15 years. If he had been found guilty for sexual trafficking or association with criminals, he risks life imprisonment.
After reading the verdict by the jurors, the Defense Lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, asked the sub-Ramanian judge to release the bail, a request to which the prosecutors opposed.
The judge asked the lawyers of both parties to submit the written arguments regarding the release of Combs until 1:00 pm (local time of the Eastern US coast).
Combs is held in federal arrest in Brooklyn from September 2024, when he was arrested.
The family of Combs left the court in the applause and scandals of supporters. Throughout his career, Combs was also known as Love, Puff Daddy and P. Diddy.
