According to the minister, planned savings measures will be included in the Austrian budget for 2027 and 2028, which is scheduled for presentation in June. Marterbauer pointed out that the final shape of the budget plan will depend on the economic forecasts that the Wifo Institute will present in April. Nevertheless, as he noted, the war in Iran introduces significant uncertainty.
“Overall, we are on the right track, the economy is recovering and inflation has dropped to just over 2 percent.” – said the minister in an interview. “And now this unnecessary and stupid war has broken out and threatens to stunt economic growth in Europe.” – he emphasizes.
Marterbauer also admitted that at this stage it is difficult to predict how long the conflict in Iran will last and what its final effects will be.
“For now, we are continuing planning and we will be able to flexibly adapt to possible challenges later.” – he added.
