Ciprian Marica, 39, says for the first time why he was no longer at the national team: “At first it was cool, then a sadness …”.
Invited to the GSP podcast “2 to 1”the former attacker of Romania spoke about how the advance of the technology would have gripped the relationship between players.

“I think the phone is the main culprit today. I was looking at the U19 national, that they took their phones Ion Marin. And I was wondering how they spend their time. Do you know what the asset they have? They will have to speak between them. They will have to find activities, discover each other.
Before it was the game room, you had billiards, ping-pong, darts, books, Remi, it was something, they tied the players. Today, everyone is on the phone in his room, there is no one in the relaxation rooms, it is deserted“Said Marica.

Then, Marica revealed that precisely the sad atmosphere of her last years from the national team have decisively removed him from football and the first representative.
“I tell you for the first time – this was something for which at the national team I was no longer at the end of my career. Before it was cool, it was an atmosphere, I was going to the lot and I was pleased. When I left, I had no pleasure. From where we were all in Mogoșoaia, there, pile, now it was deserted, no one left the room, the halls were empty.
Before there was a rush, you were going to a colleague's room, at the massage room was a caterpillar, good will, jokes … Towards the end of my national period, it was such a sadness! Empty, empty, empty!
A sad atmosphere. We didn't relate anymore, we were no longer friends. Even that quarrel from Remi meant something … But he had disappeared“, Marica told Podcastul GSP” 2 to 1 “.
Marica debuted at the national team in November 2003, at 18, in a lost match in front of Italy, 0-1. There were 71 other selections in which he managed to mark 25 times. He retired in 2016 from football.

“As a coach, you have to be malleable. This is not my character”
Marica was not too far from football even after she clung to her boots. He took over the Farul club, then joined with the future, now being one of the shareholders of the team that is confused with Gică Hagi. But he never thought of becoming a coach. Why?
“It's a full-time job, it's a job that takes a long time. When it's a break, you have to look for players, you have to get ready for the cantonment, stay 24 out of 24 concentrate. And I was bored! When I left, I had no desire. And what to do? Shall I take it from the end again? To stay in the cantonments …
In addition, as a coach you must have certain qualities, you have to mold after the players. As a footballer, you are only with you, you are interested in what you do, you are concerned only your course, how you recover and so on. As a coach, you have to be responsible for others.
There are many aspects that I have not found in me to be a coach. You have to be malleable as a coach, so that I do not use another tougher term.
You have to look into the player's eyes and do your job with him even if you know that at the end of the season he will leave. You have to look in the eyes of those on the bench, tell them they are good, but that they don't play-and you have to keep them warm, to behave beautifully with them. And there are many.
I don't know if I had the necessary patience. And my character is not such a nature. If I have something to say, I say. As a coach, you have to have gloves, ”Marica explained.
