A group of Belarusian writers came to Birobidzhan – the famous prose writer, laureate of the State Prize Yanka Bryl, poets Sergey Grakhovsky, Valentin Taras, Nile Gilevich, Naum Kislik and literary critic, candidate of philological sciences Lidia Arabi.
“In the regional library, a meeting of the literary and readership of the city with guests from Soviet Belarus was held. The meeting was attended by the secretary of the Khabarovsk regional branch of the Writers of the RSFSR V. Aleksandrovsky. Writers spent several days in our region, met with workers of city enterprises and agricultural workers.”

“In Birobidzhan, the first phase of the new regional neuropsychiatric hospital for 200 beds was commissioned. A dispensary department is operating, where psychiatrists A.K. Fedoseev, G. G. Sergeeva, B. N. Bernikov and the narcologist V. A. Skopenko. The first patients were received by the first patients with the drug department for 60 beds (head of A. N. Rizhik).
The construction of the second stage of the hospital complex continues: the main building, three medical buildings, labor workshops with a day hospital with 150 places, greenhouses. “

In the newspaper Birobidzhan Zvezda, a curious article was published by the head of the department of architecture and urban planning of the Birobidzhan city executive committee E. Brener-“Square of the heroes of the works of Sholom-Aleicham” On the creation of a unique square of the heroes of the works of Sholom-Aleichem.
“The Department of Architecture and Urban Planning of the City Executive Committee reports that, taking into account the proposals received, the work on the layout of the heroes of the works of the classic of Jewish literature Sholom-Aleichem designed in the city of the Square.
During the week, the layout will be shown in the City Palace of Culture, where the townspeople will be able to get acquainted with the main architectural, planning and artistic solution of the project. Its authors will be in Birobidzhan.
The square should become the cultural part of our city, a place of rest and meetings with the literary heritage of the writer.
The editors of the newspaper Birobidzhaner Stern (12+) turned to the granddaughter of Sholom Aleicham. Recently, an answer came from her in which she expressed gratitude for the attention and creation of such a square. Despite the advanced age, Bel Kaufman expressed the hope that she could come to the opening of the monument to transfer a number of personal-aleicham personal belongings to the townspeople.
The improvement of the square will be started this year. It seems that everyone, labor collectives of enterprises and organizations of the city will be able to take part in noble business.
The department has made an offer to organize a public fund for financing the ongoing work and open a special bank account. ”
The idea of perpetuating the memory of Sholom Aleichem in our city has been discussed for many years. But it was possible to do this only in September 2004, in the days of the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the Jewish Autonomous Region. Who knows, maybe someday our city will decorate the “Square of the heroes of the works of Sholom Aleicham”, the idea was good and even the layout was. “

In the newspaper Birobidzhan Zvezda, an article by Viktor Tereshchenko was published “relevant for both countries”, that the first international conference of doctors was completed in Birobidzhan.
“The Chinese People’s Republic at the conference was represented by doctors from Hagan, Harbin and Shanghai, and the Russian Far East – their colleagues from Birobidzhan, Khabarovsk, Blagoveshchensk and Vladivostok. All reports sounded in Russian and Chinese, were reinforced by video materials.
Chinese and Russian scientists, as well as practical doctors, considered the problems of introducing advanced medical technologies and healthcare organization, as well as clinical diagnostics that were relevant for both countries.
The conference participants visited the EAO medical institutions-a regional hospital, a dental clinic, a fitness and recreation dispensary and an ambulance station.
