Record PLN 309 million for clubs and PZPN in the 2024/25 season

“The past season of PKO Bank Polski Ekstraklasa was very successful in terms of sport and attendance. We are very happy that we can also add a financial record to these achievements. The total amount of approx. PLN 309 million for clubs and federations is more than a budget founded at the beginning of the season and the highest sum in the history of our league” – says Marcin Animucki, president of Ekstraklasa SA in the post of Spółka.
Some of the funds generated have been postponed for the next season – they will pay the payment to the fifth club from Poland in European cups 2026/27, as Ekstraklasa writes
“We still have to work to at least keep our position in the UEFA ranking. Therefore, together with the Supervisory Board, we decided to secure additional funds from this year's revenues and postpone them for next year. We will pay them to the fifth team, which will play from the second round of the conference league elimination – just like the fourth team – and therefore it will be support in the same amount” – explains.

The Polish champion got the most
The most money went to Lech Poznań – the Polish champion received PLN 36.1 million. Raków Częstochowa collected PLN 30.2 million, and Jagiellonia Białystok over PLN 26 million.
This is what individual Ekstraklasa clubs got
“The entire league benefits from the increase in the league's revenues, although of course good and repetitive results are the highest. For the first time, two clubs exceeded PLN 30 million, and the payment for the master reached a record level. Two seasons ago, seven clubs received less than PLN 10 million – today there is not a single case” – comments Krzysztof Buaza, financial director of Ekstraklasa SA.
Ten years ago, the clubs received PLN 122 million. The growth is primarily due to the increasingly lucrative contracts for broadcasts. A contract with Canal+ has the largest share in revenues (PLN 1.3 billion for four seasons). Income also comes from marketing rights and the sale of media rights abroad.

Pool division model for clubs
“Legia Warsaw earned the highest amount from the ranking – almost PLN 4.4 million. Pogoń Szczecin (PLN 4.1 million) and Raków Częstochowa (PLN 3.9 million) were behind it” – emphasizes Bauza.
Ekstraklasa also supported youth training – a total of nearly PLN 25.5 million went for this purpose, including from the Pro Junior System program, sponsored by PKO Bank Polski. KGHM Zagłębie Lubin received the most – over PLN 2.4 million.
“Funds for young people come from the titular sponsor, from bookmakers and league penalties. Each club received PLN 1 million as part of the fixed part” – sums up Animucki.
As part of barter benefits, the clubs received sports equipment, match statistics and protective mats. Part of the budget (PLN 10.5 million) was also transferred to PZPN to cover organizational costs, including the remuneration of judges and delegates.
