In the margin of the NATO summit held in the Capital of the Netherlands, the Minister of National Defense, Liviu-Ionuț Mosteanu, took part on Tuesday, June 24, at a working dinner organized by his Dutch counterpart, along with the defense ministers in the Allied states.

The discussions at the meeting targeted strategic topics essential for the future of the North Atlantic Alliance, a press release published on the MAPN website. Officials have analyzed the new NATO development directions, which include a modern command and control architecture, multido -forces capable of rapid reaction and robust logistics meant to support the projection capacity of the force.

A major point on the agenda represented the investment plan in defense, with the objective that the Member States will allocate 5% of GDP for this area by 2035. Also, the ministers discussed the generation of forces and capabilities necessary to strengthen the discouragement and defense of the alliance, as well as to strengthen the European Defense Industry.

The new Foreign Minister Oana Țoiu, who started his direct mandate with international meetings, also participated in the Hague Summit.

“I just participated in the NATO-Ukraine Council organized in the margin of this NATO summit. I have emphasized the importance of a fair and durable peace in Ukraine, The role of the strategic partnership between Romania and the USA in the stability of the Black Sea region and we have reaffirmed the commitment of Romania to support the peace and sovereignty of Ukraine, as well as the democracy of the Republic of Moldova ”, wrote Oana Țoiu on the X network.

Minister Liviu-Ionuț Mosteanu reaffirmed the powerful commitment of Romania to NATO and the principle of collective defense.

“Romania remains a reliable ally, deeply employed in strengthening the post of defense and discouragement of NATO. We support the increase of investments in defense, as an expression of our responsibility towards the Euro -Atlantic security. At the same time, we make sustained efforts to fulfill the capabilities targets and to strengthen the national defense industry.” said the Romanian official.
