The 50-year-old detained on Wednesday evening was to direct the drone in the immediate vicinity of one of the runways in the northern part of the airport. There is a base of Norwegian Air Force.
The police requisitioned the drone, and the man was arrested. Criminal proceedings were initiated against him. Investigators together with the PST security service are investigating whether there is a relationship between the suspect arrest on Wednesday and the events of Monday, when Garderoen airport due to unidentified objects in the security zone had to be closed.
Representatives of the Norwegian equivalent of the Civil Aviation Office admitted in an interview with NRK television that so far drones rarely pose a threat to air traffic in the country, which is why recent events are treated very seriously.
