Activists of the Italian branch of the Greenpeace organization with British activists developed a great banner on Monday in Venice as part of the protest against the upcoming wedding of the billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez in the city. “If you can rent a Venice for a wedding, you can pay more taxes” – was the inscription.

The 400 square meter banner was spread on Saint Mark's Square on the next day of protests against Bezos's wedding. Opponents of this event consider it to be unacceptable to the use of Venice for private purposes at the expense of its inhabitants and the normal functioning of the city.

Several dozen activists participated in Monday's action, who said that such great events were an expression of “social and climate injustice”.

The left -handed left of Naples from Naples Angelo Bonelli joined the opponents of the wedding, whose date was not announced for security reasons.

“It is unacceptable that the city is so fragile and unique as Venice is transformed into a play park for the rich, hired for a lavish celebration” – he emphasized in the issued statement.

“It is an offense for the dignity of people, for the environment and our culture,” he assessed.

In turn, the politician of the government coalition Lino Ricchiuti decided that Greenpeace protests and other associations against Bezos are “senseless”. “Are these protests against who brings the wealth of this territory? What would they prefer? Empty squares and closed shops?” he asked.

“Such an event means employment, publicity in the world, real economic influence. Meanwhile, a traditional banner of ideology is raised,” added the politician.

It is unofficially known that the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez will take place in the coming days on the Venetian island of San Giorgio.

After a few days of protests in Venice, it was reported that The bride and groom was brought to the first check for the city: a million euros for the consortium, which conducts scientific research of the local lagoon.

The media reports that at the wedding, among others, the daughter of US President Donald Trump – Ivanka with her husband Jared Kushner, Hollywood stars: Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert Pattinson, Orlando Bloom, Eva Longoria, and Barbra Streisand.
