This year's season for cherry producers turns out to be a big challenge. Although apparently the head does not hurt from excess, this year the excess of fruit, which appeared on the market after a long June weekend, reduced prices rapidly.

According to Sadyiogrody.pl, during the week after a long June weekend, the price of cherries on the Bronisze wholesale market start from PLN 10-13 per kilo, and the maximum amount is PLN 16/kg. These amounts enjoy customers, but disappoint fruit growers, who see the main reason in good supply. “At the weekend a lot of cherries arrived, hence such prices” – comments Maciej Kmera, a representative of the Bronisz market, whose words are quoted by Sadyiogrody.pl.
Cherry producers have a problem. It's not just about prices
The situation of fruit growers is also worse by the internal situation among the producers themselves, who complain about the dishonest competition that spoils the market.
“We try to produce the highest quality cherries, we invest in protection, hand collection, selection, cooling. And then someone with a worse goods arrives, who does not care about the price and sells below profitability. And this spoils the whole market” – complains one of the fruit producers whose words are cited by Sadyiogrody.pl.

What's worse, this approach also translates into premium -class fruit producers. It is increasingly difficult to get producers with a satisfactory price for higher quality products.
This year, two varieties dominate the cherry market: Summit and Wanda. They are the largest share in wholesale trade, and buyers are looking for the fruits of these varieties. Sellers explain that this is due to the best fruit presence, which is further enhanced by availability.
Despite the difficulties occurring, the fruit growers hope that in the coming period the situation will normalize, and the market and consumers will appreciate the quality of the domestic product.
