The Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Saar announced on Saturday that an attempt to attack Iran against some Israeli citizens in Cyprus has been dismantled with the help of Nicosia authorities, AFP reports.
“The guards of the Revolution (the ideological army of the Islamic Republic) tried to commit an attack on some Israeli citizens in Cyprus,” Saar wrote in a message on the social network X, without giving more details on this attempt.
“Due to the action of the Cypriot security authorities, in cooperation with the Israeli security services, the attack was dismay,” he added.
The announcement occurs on the 9th day of war between Israel and Iran, triggered by the Israeli attack on June 13 against the Islamic Republic, and after the Cypriot police announced on Saturday, the arrest of a man suspected of “espionage” and “terrorism”.
Media Cypriot claimed that the suspect has links with Iran.
Only an hour of flight by Tel Aviv, Cyprus is a destination appreciated by Israeli tourists.
