The Kremlin spokesman does not want to hear about the suspension of weapons between Russia and Ukraine
Dmitry Pieskov said that Russia will not agree to the suspension of weapons in Ukraineclaiming that he now has a “strategic advantage” on the battlefield and intends to continue the attack. His comments were delivered a day after the unilateral call of Ukraine to suspend their weapons, supported by the United States, crossed the 100 days limit.
Russia ruled out any break in the fighting, insisting that cessation of fights only if some conditions are met – including the full withdrawal of Ukrainian forces from four occupied regions, suspension of Western military support, the end of mobilization and the abolition of martial law in Ukraine.
– We now have a strategic advantage. Why should we lose her? We are not going to lose her. We're going forward. We are moving forward and we will continue to move forward – said Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Pieskow in an interview with Sky News published on Friday.
Pieskow added that Moscow may consider a truce only when Western countries stop sending weapons to Ukraine during a break in the fighting. – A truce is a truce, you stop. But America does not say “we will stop all deliveries”, just like Great Britain and France. This is the problem – he said.
Delegations of Ukraine and Russia met in Istanbul on June 2, where Kiev proposed the peak of the leaders of both countries before the end of the month. After the talks, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Serhij Kysłyca said that Russia refused to consider the suspension of weapons. According to the Kremlin, such a peak should only take place After significant agreements by lower -level negotiators.
A significant part of Pieskow's interview focused on broader international tensions, including the Iranian-Israeli conflict. He called all Western pressure to change the regime in Tehran “inadmissible” and said that even discussing this idea was “out of place”.
