Media: A meeting of the US and Iran delegation was planned in Istanbul

The plan failed, because the consent of Iran, Ayatollah, Alego Chamenei, could not be obtained. The leader was not captivated because he is hiding for his life – they told Axios to three sources in the US authorities and one source, familiar with the case.

The website said that Erdogan called Trump on Monday during the G7 summit. The Turkish leader proposed that the next day in Istanbul a meeting of representatives of the US and Iran authorities took place on the diplomatic resolution of the conflict. Trump agreed to this proposal and told Erdogan that he could delegate the meeting of Vice President JD Vance and the Middle East Steve Witkoff.

He declared that he could even go to Turkey himself to meet the Iranian president Masud Pezeszkian, if it was necessary to generate an agreement – the sources said.

The Turkish side then gave this proposal to the President of Iran and the head of Iranian diplomacy Abbas Aragczi. Pezeszkian and Aragczi tried to receive permission to meet in Istanbul from Chamenei, but they failed to contact him. After a few hours, the Turks were informed that they failed to get permission from Ayatollah.
