Cristian Tudor Popescu, about the tandem Nicușor Dan-Ilie Bolojan and the future government: “I saw some names that put me on my thoughts”

“I think this tandem, between Mr. Dan and Bolojan, will work because the two are rational people and they both have a considerable experience in the field of administration,” says journalist Cristian Tudor Popescu, after the president nominated the Prime Minister on the PNL interim leader. However, the newspaper has expressed concern about some of the names conveyed to be part of the new ministers office.

In an intervention by phone on B1 TV, the journalist also said that the PSD has achieved its objectives in the negotiations for the formation of the future government, the most important objective being rotating the prime ministers.

Cristian Tudor Popescu, about the tandem Nicușor Dan – Ilie Bolojan:

• The extra ministry that the USR received is not worth it in my opinion. I think this tandem between Mr. Dan and Bolojan will work because the two are rational people and they both have a considerable experience in administration.“

On Friday, President Nicușor Dan appointed the interim leader of PNL, Ilie Bolojan, for the position of prime minister.

After the nomination, Bolojan said he would continue to have discussions today with the parties negotiating the Government – PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and minorities. He spoke about three “directions” he will follow in his mandate.

In the speech held in Cotroceni, together with the president, Ilie Bolojan said that he is aware that his designation for the position of prime minister is a “great responsibility”.

He said that in his actions he will follow three directions:

• “Let's put order in the country's finances.”
• “Let's work for a good governance that will create development conditions in Romania.”
• “Let us show due respect to the Romanians.”

During the evening, the presidents of the parties negotiating the formation of the new Government – PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and national minorities – were to have discussions with the designated prime minister Ilie Bolojan. The meeting was convened for 8:30 pm, at the Bolojan's office in the Senate.

The PSD will have seven positions in the future Government Ilie Bolojan, and in the party an internal competition has been initiated for the position of minister.

Regarding the USR, there is still a discussion at the level of the ruling coalition whether the party led by Dominic Fritz will have deputy prime minister in the future government or not, but the four ministries have been established: external, defense, economy and environment, according to HotNews sources.

For the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Oana Țoiu is taken into account, for the Ministry of Defense Ionuț Moșteanu, for that of the favorite economy in the USR is Radu Miruță, and for the Ministry of Environment is Diana Buzoianu.

The leader of the Hungarian Democratic Union in Romania, Kelemen Hunor, said on Friday, after the designation of Ilie Bolojan as a prime minister, that his formation is ready to continue the negotiations and asked for “voice and weight” in the new government, mentioning that, in difficult times, the competence, professional experience and UDMR balance count.
