Breaking Ilie Bolojan is appointed prime minister. Nicușor Dan: is the most appropriate person to make the necessary adjustments in the Romanian -Video State apparatus

Ilie Bolojan, interim president of the PNL, was appointed by Nicușor Dan to form the next government with which he will go to Parliament to receive the investment vote. The nomination for the position of prime minister was announced on Friday afternoon by the president in a press statement at Cotroceni Palace.
The president came with Ilie Bolojan.
“I designate Ilie Bolojan as prime minister. I want to thank the parties that do the government. It is the interest of Romania for the government to be supported by a stable majority,” said the president.
Nicușor Dan: “There were important, sensitive issues and difficult measures that the parties assumed for governance”
He said that “no day was lost” throughout this period of almost a month of negotiations for the formation of the government.

“There were important, sensitive issues and difficult measures that the parties assumed for government and none of the days spent in discussions has been lost. The emergency for Romania is the economic relaunch. You have to have a solid basis and for this we have to work and the responsibility is the Government. We need to correct the financial deficit,” said Nic.

He said that Ilie Bolojan is “the most appropriate person to make the necessary adjustments in the Romanian state apparatus”:
“He is a person who in the positions has proven to know how to reduce and make expenses more efficient, has a vision of development and is the most appropriate person. He will have a partner in me.”

Bolojan also made a brief press statement, along with the president, saying that this afternoon will continue the discussions with the parties to ensure a parliamentary majority, to finalize the Government and the Governance Program.
“I will follow 3 directions- to put order in the country's finances, to show due respect to the Romanians. I know it will not be an easy mission, but I trust that with the President of Romania and the responsible people in the parties we can pass this difficult situation and to restore Romania on a good road.”
The appointment of Ilie Bolojan for the post of prime minister comes at the end of almost four weeks of negotiations between the president and the PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR and the group of national minorities for the formation of the future government. The participation in the government of the four parties is not yet official, the PSD will convene an internal referendum on the entry or not to the government.
The discussions between PSD, PNL, USR and UDMR for the formation of the government, but also on a package of tax measures to reduce the Bogater deficit on May 28.
They entered a deadlock on Thursday night, when Nicușor Dan and Ilie Bolojan had different positions on VAT growth. The Liberal leader wants the VAT increase from 19 to 21%, but this measure has been hit by the president's opposition.
The two had on Friday, before the announcement in Cotroceni, a new discussion that unlocked the negotiations and led to the designation.
Ilie Bolojan is going to go to Parliament now with the government program and the ministers' office. In the reunited plenary of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate, the parliamentarians will grant the investment vote. The last step will be taking the investment oath in front of the president.
Romania currently has an interim government led by Cătălin Predoiu, who fulfilled 45 days, the deadline imposed by the Constitution for the investment of a new executive. However, the Constitution does not provide for sanctions if the term of 45 days is exceeded. One precedent existed in 2009, when the Boc government remained interim for about 70 days.
