Interim Foreign Minister Emil Hurezeanu presented the situation of Romanian citizens on Wednesday to be evacuated or repatriated from Iran and Israel, following the war between the two countries. The minister said that there are transfer difficulties for Romanian citizens with Iranian citizenship, because of the restrictions imposed by Azera.

At the Romanian Embassy in Tehran there are currently 68 people who have expressed their desire to leave the space immediately, and the diplomatic mission maintains the dialogue with 30 other people, said the Romanian Foreign Minister.

“The difficulty of granting consular protection to Romanian citizens from mixed families is maintained due to the restrictions imposed by Azera to Iranian citizens. At the Romanian Embassy in Tel Aviv and the Romanian representation office at Ramallah, 119 persons requested evacuation and repatriation.

At the General Consulate in Haifa 40 people were evaluated as a priority: women, children, people without financial means, medical cases for evacuation.

At the Romanian Embassy in Aman – 44 Romanian citizens affected by the cancellation of flights, they continue to receive support and orientation from the diplomatic mission in order to identify the optimal variants of leaving the kingdom.

Hurezeanu also mentioned that at this moment 3 groups of pilgrims who were in the city of Bethleem left the region and entered the territory of the Arab Republic of Egypt either by their own means or by Romania's assistance to Tel Aviv. Later these people were taken over by a mobile consular team from the Romanian Embassy in Cairo.

“The last group of 40 citizens landed with a special race in Sofia during yesterday's evening, 38 of them reaching the country this morning through the care of Romania's diplomatic mission in Sofia,” Hurezeanu said.

The 38 pilgrims from Bethleem, who were evacuated through Egypt, were taken by a Bulgarian aircraft to Sofia and from there with Romanian coach they arrived this morning in the North Station.
