The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (Gold) announced on Saturday that it has sent to the President of the Chamber of Deputies an official request for notification of the Constitutional Court of Romania, in order to ascertain the existence of a constitutional legal conflict between the President of Romania and the Parliament of Romania, and accuses Nicuşor Dan of blocking a new government.

“The conflict concerns the unjustified delay in the designation of a candidate for the position of prime minister, under the conditions in which the interim government led by Cătălin Predoiu approaches the limit of the 45 days provided by the Constitution for the exercise of the interim. Official statement, quoted by News.ro.

Gold claims about the consultations started on May 28 that they did not seek to designate a prime minister, but focused on establishing austerity measures for Romanians.

“Gold refused to participate in the consultations on May 28, as it was obvious that these consultations had no serious character, Nicuşor Dan declaring on several occasions that he would only talk to the parties considered” pro-European “, and this happened the next few days, facts that confirmed the lack of will in the impartial exercise. This deliberate delay in the appointment of a prime minister has generated a major institutional blockage, seriously affecting the functioning of the state authorities and undermining the principle of loyal collaboration between institutions, dedicated to the Constitution ”, says gold.

The formation also says that this way, the legal conflict of a constitutional nature arises from the discretionary exercise of the presidential duties, by simulating consultations without purpose and the refusal to designate a candidate for the position of prime minister.

“This conduct contravenes the obligation of the President of Romania to ensure the respect of the Constitution and to the good functioning of the public authorities, as well as the function of mediator between the state powers. In these conditions, we consider that the non-fulfillment of the constitutional obligations by the President of Romania constitutes a serious violation of the institutional balance and of the state. Gold.

Gold asks the president of the Chamber of Deputies to exercise his duties and to notice the Constitutional Court, “to end this state of uncertainty and to restore the constitutional balance.”
