The deputy USR Diana Buzoianu asks the Minister of Interior, Cătălin Predoiu, to publicly explain what measures the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) has taken to block the online sites and platforms that publish intimate images with thousands of women, photographed or filmed without their consent.

“Thousands of photos and videos-illegally drained from the surveillance cameras in hair removal or massage or even made on the street-are posted without agreement, without shame, without consequences. The sites that do this are still online, although notifications have been made in the waterfall,” Diana Buzoianu said according to a press release.

The deputy stresses that on these platforms, some of them with thousands of users, including images with minors and inciting messages are distributed to committing sexual criminal acts.

“We asked for information to know how many sites have been closed in recent years, how many predators have open files and, if these things have not happened, why have no measures have been taken? Especially since on these abject sites there is pornographic content, including minors, even posts that could be included in the offense. Criminal for each of these posts ”, added Buzoianu.

USR asks Minister Predoiu to answer several questions about the number of notifications and criminal files opened in the last five years for such facts, how many of them have been completed and how many sites have been closed or blocked.

“The questions to which Minister Predoiu has the obligation to answer publicly:

  • 1. In the last 5 years, how many notifications have been registered by the police from the victims of the cyber violence that claimed the capture, disclosure, dissemination, presentation or transmission of personal information with intimate graphic content?
  • 2. In the last 5 years, how many criminal files have been opened at national level having as object the investigation of criminal acts committed through the online platforms aimed at capturing, disclosing, disseminating, presenting or transmitting information with intimate graphic content, without the consent of the victims?
  • 3. In the last 5 years, how many criminal files have been opened at national level having as object the investigation of sexual criminal acts detected through online platforms?
  • 4. By reference to questions 2 and 3, how many of these files were completed and what were the solutions ordered by the criminal prosecution bodies or by the courts for each one?
  • 5. In the last 5 years, how many online sites/platforms promoted the broadcast, presentation or transmission of information with intimate graphic content, without the consent of the victims were detected by the police or other specialized bodies within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs? And, if so, how many requests for closing/suspending these online platforms were formulated by the Romanian Police bodies?
  • 6. What are the reasons why such online platforms can work uncontrolled? He has made more proposals for the improvement of the normative framework and, if so, what were they? ”, It is shown in the press release.

The Romanian Police announces that it has been self -related

The call of the deputy comes after more information appeared in the public space about a site with almost 60,000 users, where photos and videos with thousands of women in secret, images from the surveillance cameras, or pornographic deepfakes are uploaded.

The Romanian Police announced that they have self-identified and check.

“There have been started ex officio checks, in order to establish the factual situation and to take the necessary legal measures. At this moment, the checks are carried out in terms of committing possible crimes, such as violating private life and harassment,” the General Police Inspectorate (IGPR) reports in a statement.

Authorities call on people who have relevant information, especially women who have been victims of these actions, to make a referral to the police or through the online platform.

“The investigations are in progress, and, at their completion, the legal measures that are required will be ordered,” IGPR said.

Among those who publicly signaled the phenomenon are Ramona Dumitrescu, producer of Radio Impuls Romania, and content creator on Tiktok Evetastick. Dumitrescu said that photos with her were distributed without his consent, and the site also includes images with minors. “I am disgusted and I do not know what to say. I come to vomit,” she said in a post on social networks.
