Russia sentenced to 18 years in prison on Leonid Volkov, a close ally of Aleksei Navalnîi

A Russian court was missing LEONID Volkov, a Russian opponent in exile and an important ally of Aleksei Navalnîi, to 18 years in prison, the Russian state -news agency TASS announced on Wednesday.
“The court found Leonid Mihailovici Volkov guilty of committing more crimes and convicted in absence to 18 years in prison, as well as a fine of 2 million rubles, with the prohibition to administer a website for 6 years,” the court decision, quoted by TASS, shows.
The 44-year-old Leonid Volkov was one of Aleksei Navalnîi, the most prominent opponent of Vladimir Putin, who died in a prison on Siberia on February 16, 2024.
Volkov lives in Lithuania, a NATO member country, after running from Russia who “recognizes as a foreign agent.”
Volkov led the election campaign of Aleksei Navalnîi to the 2018 presidential elections. He was also the president of the Navalnîi Anti -Corruption Foundation until 2023. Russia appoints the Foundation as a “extremist organization”.
