Mayor Los Angeles, Karen Bass, issued a prohibition of traffic on Tuesday, following several days of intense protests against raids and deportations of immigrants, which led to collisions with law enforcement, acts of large -scale vandalism, especially during the night, reports Reuters and CNN.

The prohibition is in effect for areas in the center of Los Angeles where the demonstrations in the city were concentrated.

This applies from local time 20.00 until 6.00. Mayor Karen Bass said the measures could be in effect for several days.

According to the authorities, the prohibition covers only an area of ​​about 1.5 square km and will affect less than 100,000 of the 4 million Los Angeles.

LAPD started “mass arrests”

At the same time, the Los Angeles Police Department said on Tuesday evening that he began to “make mass arrests”, dozens of people being detained because they gathered in the area with restrictions.

At least 378 people have been arrested in the last four days, said the Los Angeles police.

“Several groups continued to gather on 1 Street, between Spring and Alameda. These groups are managed and have started table arrests,” LAPD said on the X network.

Los Angeles has been the scene of days of public revolt since the Trump administration launched a series of raids against immigrants last Friday. Hundreds of soldiers in the troops of the American navy arrived in Los Angeles on Tuesday, at the order of Donald Trump, who also mobilized 4,000 soldiers in the National Guard to suppress the protests.
