Thousands of farmers and merchants – in separate demonstrations – protested on Monday on the streets of the capital of Bolivia, La Paz, against the “mad growth” of fuel prices and basic foodstuffs, demanding from the president of the country Luis Arka “immediate implementation” of solutions that would normalize the situation in the country plunged into the way.

“We protest against incredible breaks in the supply of liquid fuels and food products” – the banners were carried by demonstrators.

The Spanish EFE press agency, quoting the statements of the participants of the demonstration against the helplessness of the government towards this “market disaster”, also writes that such basic articles of universal consumption, such as rice, sugar, eggs and poultry, have almost disappeared from the market, and prices “madly fired up”.

Participants of the protests, who also block the roads in the country, appeal to the former president of Bolivia Evo Morales to start in the presidential election designated on August 17, and at the same time demand the resignation of the current head of the state Luis Arce.

Morales, who has already held the president's position three times, declares that he wants to apply for the highest office in the state again, even though the law forbids him another start in the presidential election. (PAP)
