A 17 -year -old French student is among those killed on Tuesday in the armed attack committed by a former student in a school in the Austrian city of Graz, his father told AFP, according to Agerpres.

“My son is among the victims. The police came at 6:30 pm (16:30 GMT) to inform us,” he said.

The 21 -year -old attacker killed ten people before committing suicide, an unprecedented tragedy in Austria, who decreed three days of national mourning.

Meanwhile, a woman extinguished at the hospital because of the wounds suffered, thus raising the number of victims.

In total, 11 people died, including the suspect, and several others were injured in the armed attack committed at a school in the city of Graz, southern Austria, said Elke Kahr, the mayor of Graz, quoted by the Apa Press Agency, notes Reuters.

Austria has one of the strongest armed civilian populations in Europe, with about 30 firearms per 100 people, according to Small Arms Survey, an independent research project.

The machine guns are forbidden, while the possession of revolvers, pistols and semi -automatic weapons is allowed only with official authorization. The rifles and hunting rifles are authorized with a port permit or a valid hunting permit, or for the members of the traditional shooting clubs.
