Ukraine has announced that the exchange with Russia of prisoners and corpses of the killed soldiers, scheduled for this weekend, will take place “next week”, after Moscow and Kiev have accused each other of delaying the process, AFP reports.
“The start of the repatriation operations, based on the results of the negotiations in Istanbul, is scheduled for next week (…) Everything goes as provided,” said the head of Ukrainian military intelligence services, Kirilo Budanov, accusing Moscow of “unfair information games”.
Yesterday, the head of the Russian negotiation group, Vladimir Medinski, accused Ukraine of “postponing” the exchange of prisoners of war under the age of 25, seriously ill and injured, Agerpres recalls.
For his part, Ukraine accused Russia of manipulation of accusations that Kiev has postponed unlimited exchange and questioned the decision-making capacity of the Russian negotiation team, given that he did not respect his promises.
“We ask the Russian party not to create artificial obstacles and false statements to avoid the return of Ukrainian prisoners and the transfer of their own prisoners to Russia,” said the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense in a Telegram statement.
The ministry, whose chief, Rustem Humorov, runs the Ukrainian delegation of negotiators, accused that what Russia does is still an attempt to “take a step back” from the understandings to Istanbul, which “raises doubts about the level and capabilities of the Russian negotiation.”
