From July 1, a new application for age verification

The new application will allow users to confirm their age without having to provide personal data with individual websites. This solution aims not only to protect younger users against potentially harmful content, but also to reduce costs associated with other verification systems. It is worth emphasizing, however, that using the application will not be mandatory – However, its lack may result in limited access to many popular platforms.
The application for age verification is only an introduction to major changes. From next year it is to replace it with the so -called The digital identity portfolio, which – as announced by the European Commission – will become a comprehensive tool enabling access to public and private services, storing digital documents and binding signatures. All EU citizens will be able to use it by the end of 2026 at the latest.
Protection of children and young people against social platforms
The new regulations are aimed at protecting children and young people against the negative impact of some content available on the network. Age verification will apply not only to pages with pornographic or gambling content, but also social platforms that have lower age boundaries – From 13 years in the case of Facebook, Instagram or Tiktok, up to 16 years on LinkedIn.
