European environmental legislation, which requires recycling, carbon emission limits and fauna protection, has become a major obstacle in the military training of European states, warns more defense ministers.

The letter, addressed to the Defense Commissioner, Andrius Kubilius, emphasizes that the current legislation “should not prevent the armed forces of the Member States to be operating for an invasion ”.

The ministers signatories from Sweden, Germany, Belgium, Czech Republic, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania, Finland, Estonia, Denmark and the Netherlands advertise in particular the provisions related to public procurement, nature conservation and environmental protection, which put pressure on defense organizations.

Restrictions for birds and waste

Sources within the EU claim that directives on protecting wild birds and waste management also prevent preparations for any invasion.

The EU hopes to be completely prepared for possible conflict with Russia in the next five years. During this period, it is estimated that about 800 billion euros for defense will be spent, including by relaxing the rules on public debt.

Although the European Commission has previously promised that it will reduce the legal constraints that affect military training, these promises have not been materialized so far.
