The parliamentary elections that will take place in the autumn in the Republic of Moldova will be a target of the Russian hybrid war, the head of European diplomacy Kaja Kallas said on Wednesday, on the occasion of the 9th Association Council of the Republic of Moldova in Brussels, reports Radio Chisinau, according to Agerpres.
“The parliamentary elections in the Republic of Moldova will be a target in the hybrid war carried by Moscow. Russia will most likely try to influence the vote through money and misinformation,” Kallas said.
“The citizens of the Republic of Moldova have the right to decide their future alone, without any interference from the outside. This is why we extend the mandate and extent of the European Union partnership to support the resilience of the country,” she added.
The European Union considers the Republic of Moldova as part of the “European family” and is ready to provide full support on its accession to the Community Bloc, the European Commissioner for Extension, Marta Kos, said.
Marta Kos also mentioned that the European Union will provide technical and political assistance to ensure a free and correct election.
“The Republic of Moldova will be a member of the European Union and you are already treated as a member of our family, you can rely on us to accompany and help,” said the European Commissioner for Extension, stressing that the European Union will help Chisinau to “ensure free, correct choices, to protect the Cyber space and to counter the Russian propaganda.”
“We look forward to continuing to work to prepare your place in the European Union as an equal member, respected, in peace, security and prosperity,” said Marta Kos.
The operation “Matușca”, of influencing the elections
According to an investigation published by a day of openings. The “Russian curators” would coordinate and finance these activities through the Evrazia NGO, controlled by the fugitive Ilan Șor, notes the quoted source.
An investigation conducted by Snoop.ro, published last week, showed that this NGO controlled by the fugitive ilan Șor oligarch bought advertising on several big news sites in Romania.
Open.md writes that, between May 22-25, over 100 young people from several districts of the Republic of Moldova, including Gagauzia, Soroca and Balti, participated in a “stay” in Antalya, organized by the Russian citizen Roman Zagliadov and financed by Evrazia. Participants include members of the “Next Generation” organization, the young wing of the Renaissance party, part of the Pobeda block founded by Ilan Șor, but also young people recruited by the priests of the Metropolitan Moldova, who carry out subversive actions in Russia's interest, the investigation shows.
The source also mentions that during the period 12-20, sessions were held with pro-Russian priests, where it was discussed about the initiation of the “Matușca” project-intended for the influence of Orthodox women through pro-Russian messages masked under traditional values. Each priest has received the task of identifying 10 women from social-vulnerable blankets, who will benefit from logistical aid and support, all of which are actions financed by the Șor group, the source said.
