At the Artmark galleries, the summer season of masterpieces starts officially! Tomorrow, June 4, opens the most important exhibition dedicated to the art market of this period: the exhibition occasioned by Summer auction – Anniversary auction no. 600 of the A10 by Artmark house (Event scheduled Thursday, June 19, both at the Cesianu-Racoviță Palace and online Artmark Live platformfrom 18.00), with a selection of over 200 works.
Here are some of the works that enjoy the highest price estimate in this event-we start with the estimated work 70,000-120,000 euros and signed by Theodor Aman (1831-1891): “Liliac on green satin”. This is a painting of impressive dimensions for the painter (which was considered rather a miniaturist) – namely 1 meter high, made in 1885. At the opposite “pole”, that is, of small dimensions, usually for its palette – 16 x 11 cm, there is another event of flower painted by the artist, “Roses”estimated work at 5,500-7,500 euros. Recognized especially for historical and rural scenes, the painter preferred the static nature in the last decade of his artistic maturity.

The artist holding the record of the art market in Romania – Nicolae Grigorescu (1838-1907)-could not miss the auction of this season of the A10 by Artmark house. The catalog of the event encompassed his painting “Interior to Rucăr”dated 1870, two decades before the painter settled in Campina, and which has a starting price of only 15,000 euros. Grigorescu has enjoyed an impressive notoriety since he was studying in France, so before the success in his native country-Napoleon III himself bought a painting, after an exhibition of the artist from 1867!
Also, the anniversary auction no. 600 Artmark also presents a drawing by Nicolae Grigorescu in coal: “Peasant with Fuior” (dating to 1900), which starts in a tender from only 900 euros. “Such works are quite rare. Probably this sketch is a precursor for making a well -known painting with a peasant”, explains Vlad Dumitriumuseographer of the “Nicolae Grigorescu” Memorial House in Campina, for YouTube Artmark channel.
Artmark summer auction brings to the public and one of the most intimate and fascinating topics approached by Nicolae Tonitza (1886-1940), presenting the painting “Nude inside Japanese” -a work that was made in the 1920s, which comes from a historical collection, that of Tiberiu Puică, and which has a starting price of 48,000 euros. The artist's predilection is renowned for this theme, Tonitza considering that nowhere the skills of the painter are not “More intensely tested as in the study of the nude”. Studies conducted in both Iasi and Munich, after ancient models, formed the young Tonitza a solid basis in understanding the artistic anatomy. Regarding the painted museums, they were frequently found as a result of the publication in newspapers – but the selection was made very demanding and rigorous, the historian and art critic Barbu Brezianu records in the “Tonitza” biography published at the Romanian Academy Publishing House in 1967.

Similar to the famous Claude Monet, whose work was very impressed, especially during its Parisian studies, Samuel Mützner (1884-1959) is a representative artist for the native impressionist current. So the presence in this anniversary auction of the painting entitled “In the garden at Giverny”made, in 1907 – that is, in its most important period of creation, in the province of northern France, which appears and in many of the canvases Monet is a notable event! The work is large, over 1 meter, and has a starting price in the Artmark event of only 15,000 euros.

Otherwise of flowers and other landscapes are present in the paintings signed by Ion Țuculescu (1910-1962) and selected for this special event: “The nights of the village” (since 1957) and “Diluted atmosphere” (approx. 1960)-both estimated at 40-70,000 euros.

From the top of the best -selling classic and contemporary Romanian artists, from historical and well -known collections, the current selection for the Artmark Artmark auction, no. 600, brings together works with an impressive exhibition course, between which Theodor Pallady (1868-1916), Ștefan Luchian (1868-1916), Camil Ressu (1880-1962), Gheorghe Petrașcu (1872-1949), Alexandru Ciucurencu (1903-1977), Corneliu Baba (1906-1997), Francisc Sirato (1877-1953), Nicolae Vermont (1866-1932), Rudolf Schweitzer-buy (1886-1975), Dumitru Ghiață (1888-1972) etc.
