The Czech opposition demands the resignation of the government of Petr Fiali and does not exclude the submission of a vote of no confidence – said on Tuesday the runner -up of the strongest opposition party Ano Karel Havliczek. The opposition criticizes the government for accepting a large donation in Bitcoins, which may have come from a crime.

The donation in Bitcoins, equivalent to almost 1 billion crowns (over PLN 170 million), gave to the Ministry of Justice, after serving a sentence, a person convicted of, among others for drug trafficking and weapons. The money transferred was only part of the contents of the account in cryptocurrency. It is not known who the remaining part of the money went to and in the opinion of the opposition there is a suspicion that money was laundering.

It is not known why the donor transferred money to the Ministry of Justice, how many Bitcoins were in the portfolio from which the donation was transferred, or where the cryptocurrency gathered in the portfolio came from.

In connection with the so -called The Bitcoin scandal for resignation was given by Minister of Justice Pavel Blażek. On Tuesday, he stated that he was submitting a parliamentary mandate and he would not run in the election in autumn.

Prime Minister Petr Fiala Blażka adopted the resignation and informed that he would be replaced by Eva Decroix as a minister. The head of government announced that he would convene a meeting of the State Security Council where he wants to find out whether the “Czech Republic was used”. Fiala did not provide the date of the meeting, but in practice the council collects before the office meetings that take place on Wednesdays. From the special services, the prime minister demanded an assessment of the situation.

The opposition claims that the resignation of the Minister of Justice is not enough. He believes that the political responsibility for the scandal should take the whole government, because – as he argues – Blażek about the acceptance of a donation was to inform other ministers and officials.

Opposition parties have announced that they would apply for a vote of no confidence in the government, if his resignation does not arise at the Thursday meeting of the Deputy Chamber (Lower Chamber of Parliament). The opposition does not have a number of seats sufficient to vote for the application, but the situation in the government, four months before the parliamentary elections, is also criticized by Fiali coalition parties.
