The statement of the Russian Ministry of Defense, according to which President Vladimir Putin would have been “in the epicenter of a drone attack” during a visit to the Kursk region, does not reflect reality, says The Moscow Times. According to sources quoted by the independent publication based in Amsterdam, the entire scene was directed to strengthen the image of a brave leader and directly involved in the conflict.

While the ordinary Russians continue to bear the hardship of Vladimir Putin's war in the country or in the front line, the Kremlin and Security Services have staged an action of PR, to convince the public that Putin is doing sacrifices for the country, they said four Russian officials, who wanted to keep anonymous.

At the beginning of the week, the Russian state press reported that during Vladimir Putin's first visit to Kursk since the Ruse region, his helicopter would have been the target of an attack with Ukrainian drones.

The purpose of this misinformation, states the same sources, was to present Vladimir Putin as a direct involved leader, in contrast to the image of an excessively isolated and protected president.

“In reality, it is not that it takes risks. Everything is a show for television. On the contrary, the safety measures are increasingly strict.” said an official who worked in government structures and in the Kremlin.

Although the president really visited the Kursk region, an area frequently targeted by Ukrainian attacks, its security was provided at the highest level.

“No one would afford such negligence,” declared an official close to the Presidential Administration.

The information that the presidential helicopter would have been “In the center of a massive drone attack” It was broadcast by the Ministry of Defense through the VGTRK State Canal. However, Kremlin's loyal journalists did not accompany Putin in this trip, and the filming were made by members of the security team, confirmed two sources.

In their turn, Ukrainian authorities denied that Ukraine's armed forces would have attacked Putin's helicopter in the Kursk region, categorically rejecting Moscow's accusations.
