The Romanian gymnast Ana Bărbosu won the bronze medal at the parallels on Friday, May 30, at the European Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Leipzig. According to the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee, Romania has not won the European medal for 17 years.
The Friday medal is what the second bronze medal obtained by the Romanian athlete at the European competition, after the one won in the individual compound contest.
Bărbosu, initially in the 9th place in qualifications and entered as a first reserve, entered the final after the withdrawal of the German Gymnasium.
“Ana had a controlled evolution, rhythm and well -executed detachments, good landing, and, with 13,766, she brought the second medal to this competition,” COSR said.
The gold was awarded by Nina Derweel (Belgium), the Olympic and World Champion at this device, which obtained 14,466 points. The silver returned to the athlete from Hungary, Bettina Czifra, with 14,100 points.
