Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski discussed with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz during the visit to Berlin and about the Taurus missiles, requested by Ukraine in order to hit in depth military installations and logistical infrastructures of the Russian army, the German Agency reports on Thursday.

“The issue related to Taurus was discussed in the face -to -face meeting between me and the chancellor,” Zelenski told the German RTL, according to DPA and Agerpres. “We work in this direction, but we both agreed not to publicly discuss this issue in the future,” added the Ukrainian president, ensuring that he will respect this promise.

Ukraine has so far received from its Western allies rockets with an action range of about 300 kilometers, respectively American missiles with terrestrial launch and also British and French missiles with Storm Shadow and SCALP. But Kiev has long insisted Berlin transfer Taurus rockets, which have a higher range of over 500 kilometers, with which they could hit the Crimea Bridge.

Former German Chancellor, Social Democrat Olaf Scholz, rejected this request of the Kiev, arguing that he does not want an involvement of the German military in the Ukraine conflict, given that the Operation of Taurus rocket programming may require the participation of German military prepared to operate these rockets, as well as to the French military. Storm Shadow/Scalp.

On the other hand, the delivery to Ukraine of such air missiles also involves technical difficulties, as the Ukrainian air forces do not have the platform to launch them, so that they would need to integrate them on the fighter planes available to Ukraine. However, according to discussions between the German military manager, intercepted and published by Russia, the changes made by the British military on the Suhoi Su-27 aircraft of the Ukrainian army to launch the Storm Shadow/Scalp missiles also allow the use of Taurus missiles.

The new German-right-hander Chancellor Friedrich Merz was declared before taking over the function favorable to the transfer of Taurus missiles to Ukraine. But, once the government leads, he refrained from making such a decision. In contrast, the German Chancellor promised President Zelenski on Wednesday that he would help Ukraine produce long -range armament with which he can hit the depth of the Russian Arygard. Also, the German Ministry of Defense has announced a new package of military aid for Ukraine, worth five billion euros.

According to the Kremlin, the approach of the new German Chancellor seems to be “an attempt to force the Ukrainians to continue to fight” and Germany competes with France for the most warmer country that “obstructs the peaceful resolution efforts”. For his part, Russian Foreign Minister Serghei Lavrov accused Germany on Wednesday of being in conflict.
