The Romanian Football Federation has decided unanimously, within the Executive Committee that took place on Tuesday, May 27, to introduce a new separation criterion at the end of the group phase, to avoid dam matches, as happened at the end of this season.
If all the other criteria could not determine the team that qualifies in the quarterfinals of the competition, it has reached the dispute of an additional, dam match. However, the Romanian Football Federation does not want to reach such a situation in the future and that is why it has introduced a criterion before the dam duel.
Thus, from next season, it will also take into account the place in the classification of football academies for children and juniors.

New criterion of separation in the Romanian Cup
As in the 2024-2025 edition, all the teams qualified in the quarterfinals of the competition could not be established, in the spring two dam matches were organized: Politehnica Iași-Hermannstadt and ACSM Reșița-Unirea Alba Iulia.
From next season there are less and lower chances to reach such a situation, the separation to be made, in cases at the limit, according to the place occupied by the academies of the respective clubs.
The Executive Committee of the Romanian Football Federation, statutory, in accordance with art. 47 para. (2) of the Statute of the Romanian Football Federation, on May 27, 2025, has unanimously approved the modification of art. 27 paragraph 4 of ROAF, regarding the introduction of a new criterion of separation in the Romanian Cup:
By exception, after the dispute of all the games in the main groups of the Romanian Cup, before applying the criterion of the dam game, will be used, as a criterion of separation, the ranking related to the current season from the classification of football academies for children and juniors / the evaluation of children's and juniors amateur football.
Note: The classification of football academies for children and juniors in Romania is considered to be superior to the evaluation of children and juniors amateur football
