In the Krasnoyarsk reservoir, the company EN+ sets artificial spawning grounds. Thus, the company continues the implementation of the program to preserve biodiversity in the Angarsk and Yenisei Cascades of the hydroelectric power station.

The work was held on May 27 under the control of the Yenisei territorial administration of the Federal Agency for Fisheries. They were attended by representatives of the regional and municipal authorities, the scientific community, public inspectors of fish protection, as well as En+volunteers, who care about nature and regularly participate in the environmental initiatives of the company. For many participants, the installation of artificial spawning grounds has become a practical experience in direct participation in the restoration of the ecosystem, the company notes.

Artificial spawning grounds are bunches of coniferous branches, which are fixed at a depth of 1 to 3 meters using anchors or floats. Such a depth is optimal for the reproduction of fish, and the structures imitate natural aquatic vegetation. Thus, comfortable conditions for the propagation of pike, perch, bream, carp and other types are created.

“The project to install artificial spawning grounds in the Krasnoyarsk reservoir is a vivid example of the responsible nature management and business partnership with the state in the field of ecology. The Krasnoyarsk Territory pays special attention to the preservation of aquatic biological resources, and such initiatives of EN+ are fully consistent with our regional environmental policy. It is important that the company is not limited to compliance with environmental requirements, but proactively introduces projects to preserve ecosystems, ”said Alexander Nogin, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and the Forest Complex of the Krasnoyarsk Territory.

The spawning grounds have already shown their effectiveness: in 2024, scientists recorded that the fish actively used them during the spawning period at one of the bays of the fraternal reservoir. This year, the project will be scale – the total area of artificial spawning grounds will increase from 400 to 1200 square meters. In addition to the Krasnoyarsk reservoir, they have already been installed in Irkutsk, and soon such structures will appear in Bratsk.

“The installation of artificial spawning grounds in the Krasnoyarsk reservoir is our practical contribution to the preservation of the ecosystem of the water body. The spawning grounds help increase the amount of caviar and the number of young animals due to the creation of optimal conditions for spawning. This is only one of the initiatives to preserve biodiversity, which shows that energy and ecology can successfully coexist. Environmental activity is carried out by us continuously. A week ago, together with corporate volunteers, we landscaped the observation deck of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station. In early May, the power engineers entered the subbotnik in Divnogorsk, and also pointed cleanliness in the frying square. We sincerely hope that our example will encourage other people to treat our small homeland more carefully, ”said the director of the Krasnoyarsk hydroelectric power station Stanislav Legends.
