Calin Georgescu was called today to the General Prosecutor's Office for hearings, after reproducing a quote from the book of former Legionary leader Corneliu Zelea Codreanu, at a show from Realitatea Plus.

On May 16, Călin Georgescu participated with the gold leader and the former presidential candidate, George Simion, at a show from Realitatea Plus, moderated by Anca Alexandrescu.

One hour after the beginning of the show, Georgescu reproduced a quote from Zelea Codreanu, without reminding the leader of the interwar legionaries:

“I say this: we have not fought for toys, as Avram Iancu said, but for our rights. And I complete: that the one who struggles even alone with a handful of the people and his country and for God will never be defeated,” said Călin Georgescu.

On his left, George Simion smiled approvingly and completed Georgescu as he said: “It can't be …” Simion said.

The quote is reproduced from the book “For legionaries”, written by Corneliu Zelea Codreanu and published in 1936.

“Since then, my faith that will not leave me has been rooted, that the one who struggles, even alone, for God and his nation, will never be defeated,” writes on page 22 of the book.

In Romania, legionary propaganda is forbidden by law.

“The deed of the person to promote, in public, the cult of persons guilty of committing genocide offenses against humanity and war crimes, as well as the act of promoting, in public, ideas, fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic conceptions, within the meaning of art. 31/2002.
