The White House announced on Tuesday that it has sent “a letter to the federal agents asking them to identify the contracts with Harvard and to specify whether they can be canceled or redirected to other institutions,” informs AFP and Reuters.

The conflict between the Trump administration and the academic world continues. The White House, determined to make Harvard give up, intends to put an end to all the contracts concluded with the prestigious university, whose value rises, according to the press, to $ 100 million, notes News.ro.

The executive sent “a letter to the federal agents asking them to identify the contracts concluded with Harvard and to specify whether they can be canceled or redirected to other institutions,” said a high-ranking American official, confirming the information in the press.

President Donald Trump is trying by all means to submit the prestigious university, which refuses to grant him the right to intervene in the admission of students and the recruitment of teachers. On Monday, he stated that he will “win” this duel with the most famous university in the world, who wants to prohibit in particular to receive foreign students. For now, justice has prevented this decision of the White House.

Harvard is widely considered the most elitist and most influential cultural university in the country, and Trump aims at its financial stability and its global position. Since last month, the administration has frozen about $ 3.2 billion in subsidies and contracts with the University and has tried to block its ability to enroll international students.

The administration framed its actions against Harvard as a fight for civil rights, accusing the University of Liberal Prejudices, Illegal Admission Practices and toleration of anti-Semitism. Harvard replied that the fight in court focuses on its rights provided by the first amendment of the Constitution, claiming that the Trump administration is trying to control its staff, program and registrations.

In a process filed last month, Harvard is trying to recover over $ 3 billion in federal financing. One another, initiated last week, Harvard asks for a federal court to restore the ability to enroll international students.
