Calin Georgescu was called on Tuesday at the General Prosecutor's Office to be heard by the prosecutors, after reproducing a show from Realitatea Plus a quote of former legionary leader Corneliu Zelea Codreanu.

Calin Georgescu arrived at 12.00 at the headquarters of the General Prosecutor's Office, being expected by several supporters with banners, who chanted his name and shouted: “Calin, we love you!”, According to News.ro.

Georgescu is criminally investigated, under judicial control, for six crimes, and is not allowed to do legionary propaganda. Last week, officials in the General Prosecutor's Office confirmed that it is analyzed if the criminal prosecution of Călin Georgescu is required for another material act.

Before the hearings, Georgescu announced on Monday night in a video message on Facebook, that he is withdrawing from the political life.

“I now focus all my attention and energy on my family, which needs peace and especially health after this intense and tumultuous period. I choose to stay outside any party structure. I am not part of any political, parliamentary or non -articular party, and I am not political in any way. I choose to keep a position. Romanian in the current situation.

What Calin Georgescu told reality

On May 16, Călin Georgescu participated with the gold leader, George Simion, at a show from Realitatea Plus, and at one point he reproduced a quote from Corneliu Zelea Codreanu.

“I say this: we have not fought for toys, as Avram Iancu said, but for our rights. And I complete: that the one who struggles even alone with a handful of the people and his country and for God will never be defeated,” said Călin Georgescu.

The quote is reproduced from the book “For legionaries”, written by Corneliu Zelea Codreanu and published in 1936.

“Since then, my faith that will not leave me has been rooted, that the one who struggles, even alone, for God and his nation, will never be defeated,” writes on page 22 of the book.

The accusations that are brought to Georgescu

Georgescu is criminally investigated, under judicial control, for six offenses, the most serious being that of inciting actions against the constitutional order, in tempted form.

He is accused of setting up a plan to destabilize Romania with the help of mercenaries led by Horațiu Potra, after the Constitutional Court's decision to cancel the presidential elections of 2024.

The offenses for which Calin Georgescu is being prosecuted:

  • Instigation to actions against constitutional order, in tempted form
  • Communication of fake information
  • false in statements in continuous form
  • The initiation or establishment of an organization of a fascist, racist or xenophobic character, adherence or support, in any form, of such a group
  • The promotion, in the public, of the cult of persons guilty of committing genocide offenses against humanity and war crimes, as well as the act of promoting, in public, ideas, fascist, legionary, racist or xenophobic doctrines.
  • the initiation or establishment of an anti -Semitic organization, the accession or support, in any form, of such an organization.
