Trump withdrew from the threat to the European Union

“I received a phone call from Urszula von der Leyen, chairwoman of the European Commission today, asking for an extension of the deadline on June 1 to 50 percent of customs duties in relation to trade and the European Union. I agreed to extend – until July 9, 2025 – I had the honor to do it” – wrote Trump on his social networking site. “The chairwoman of the committee said that the talks would start quickly,” he added.
He later confirmed his decision in an interview with journalists before departure from New Jersey to the White House.
“She said she wanted to go to serious negotiations. On July 9, it was the date she asked for (…) and I agreed to do it. And she said that we would meet quickly to see if we could work out” – said Trump.
The announcement of Trump means that he withdrew from his announcement of Friday, when he announced that the talks with the EU “are going nowhere” and therefore imposed 50 percent on the EU. When asked about it later, he suggested that he had already made a decision in this matter.
Initially, according to the announcement of “Dnia of Liberation” on April 2, the EU goods were to be subject to 20 percent. tanks, but Trump suspended this rate, lowering it, like all other countries except China, to 10 percent. The suspension of higher duties was to apply until July 9.
