Former President Traian Basescu does not believe in the scenario of early elections and believes that the president of Nicușor Dan must “remain neutral” in relation to all parties.

“There will be no anticipated elections and I could hear an evaluation and that over 2 years will be the suspension of the president. I do not believe this.

Asked if Nicuşor Dan should make a presidential party in a year, two, Basescu categorically replied:

“No. I think his best shield so that he is not suspended is not to have a party. I think he will not be able to make a party of 51-52%. If he manages to remain neutral in relation to all parties, I think he will have a 5-year term without very big problems,” Băsescu said.

The fifth president of post-revolutionary Romania, Nicușor Dan, will take over his term today, to take the oath from 12:00, at the Parliament Palace, in a common meeting of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

After taking over the duties of president, Nicușor Dan must appoint a prime minister who manages to obtain a majority in the Parliament. Dan's first option for the position of prime minister is Ilie Bolojan, as he repeatedly said.
