According to Suceava Live, one of the reasons for starting the protest is the increase in the sanitation fee to 300 lei per year, for each person.

“Liar”a man shouted to him, while another local told him: “No more trickery”. Other locals called on the mayor to resign.

The protesters also asked the mayor for measures against stray dogs, but also about the fee for the forever place.

At the same time, several citizens asked about a series of investments in the town of Văratec and asked the mayor to find solutions and take beneficial measures for the citizens of Salcea, writes the local publication.

Mayor Ezekiel Belțic announced that in the near future, a meeting will be held at the Salcea Cultural Home with the representatives of the Intercommunity Development Association for Waste Management, in which representatives of the sanitation operator will take part, as well as citizens who wish to participate.

In a post made on Facebook on the first day of the year, the mayor of Salcea explained that he understands “everyone's annoyance, dissatisfaction and unpleasantness” and promised “different support measures” for the citizens of the city who will be affected by the increase in taxes and fees.

He has not yet specified what measures will be taken and what this support will consist of.

In the year 2026, I want us to be grateful for the family and community we belong to, to love everyone around us, to forgive everyone who will do us wrong, to help everyone who needs our support, to not speak ill of anyone, but to always appreciate and value each other”concluded the mayor Ezekiel Belţic.
