The tempotage attempt of the Cannes Festival, claimed by extreme groups. “Cut the current to what destroys us!”

A statement issued on Sunday by “two bands of anarchists” appeared on a site related to the extreme left, claiming the acts of sabotage and Alpes-Maritimes. It is claimed in the press release the fire of an electrical substance and sabotage an electric pillar, in order to “disrupt the Cannes Film Festival”, reports Le Figaro, taken over by News.ro.

“And … cut!” With this expression borrowed directly from the cinema, the statement opens before claiming “the responsibility of the attack on the electrical installations on the Azur Coast”. The purpose of the authors, which clearly specifies their chosen targets, namely the “main electricity substance that supplies the Cannes agglomeration” and “225 kV line that comes from Nice”, was to “disturb the festival”, but also to “interrupt the electricity supply of the research centers and the Thales Alenia Space, its under-to-do. French Tech who believed to be safe, the airport and all other industrial, military and technological units in the area ”.

In a succession of accusations, the anarchists denounce the Cannes festival that “serves as a display case for a great-grandchildren, defender of progress values ​​on the international scene, but especially the second exporter of the world. The French excellence in this field arouses NATO and shatters death, from Yen to Gaza”. They also attack the “industrial trash basket of our society” which is the cinematic world, which wants to make us forget “the real planet, rotted by factories, highways, concrete and me”. The same film industry that, according to the authors, defends the “rape culture”. And without transition, they attack the “military-technological industries”, as well as “the sick speeches that want to train us in your war preparations.”

“Cut the current to what destroys us! Sabotage is possible,” the authors advocate, before drawing up a list of sabotaging objectives: highways, pillars, artificial light, TGV lines, telecommunications, electricity supply of the military industry, electricity supply of factories, oil and gas pipelines, turtles of towering. Army, water for industrial agriculture and electronic factories, cables for photovoltaic power plants, antennas and so on.

In fact, the Cannes Festival has not been affected in any way by this act of sabotage, the generators taking over the power supply of Palais des Festals. In contrast, the residents of the Cannes area, the public transport – which is more environmentally friendly – and the trains were severely disturbed, as well as hospitals, crematoriums, etc.

The anonymous authors claimed that they are “anarchists”, but only the investigation will be able to confirm with certainty that the saboteurs come from this environment. It is certain that the authors have chosen a site, Indymedia, which has already hosted several similar vandalism claims in the past: sabotage a future high-speed line (LGV) in ILLE-ET-Vilaine, deterioration of a gendarmerie headquarters in Loire-Atlantique in 2014, a tesla burned to NIOrt last year, etc. Active especially during the confrontations at Zad Notre-Dames-Des-Landes, this site is directly affiliated with the extreme left in Nantes.
