Bajatović said at the beginning of this month that Srbbi-SrbiSagas was trying for a 10-year contract for the delivery of 2.5 billion cubic meters. annually. Such an agreement, however, may be associated with political risk, because the EU, which Serbia wants to join, plans to withdraw from gas import from Russia by the end of 2027.

Despite the EU candidacy, Serbia refused to impose sanctions on Russia in connection with the invasion of Ukraine in 2022 and maintains close relations with Moscow.
