Nicușor Dan today officially takes over the mandate of president in a ceremony that takes place, from 12.00, to the Parliament Palace. The event includes the deposit of the investment jury and the support of a discourse in front of the plenary of the Chamber of Deputies and the Senate.

There are also several PSD leaders, such as Marcel Ciolacu, Paul Stănescu, Alexandru Rafila or Angel Tîlvar.

The Patriarch Daniel, the former presidents Emil Constantinescu and Traian Basescu and the members of the Constitutional Court have already arrived in Parliament. Also present are Princess Margareta and her husband Prince Radu.

After taking the oath in the Parliament, Nicușor Dan participates, from 1:30 pm, at the ceremony for teaching-receiving the mandate of president of Romania, together with Ilie Bolojan, at the Cotroceni Palace, according to the Presidential Administration.

The oath that Nicușor Dan will take

The oath that the president chosen must say during the meeting is provided in the Constitution of Romania, in Article 82, paragraph 2:

  • “I swear to give me all the power and skill for the spiritual and material propagation of the Romanian people, to respect the constitution and the laws of the country, to defend the democracy, the fundamental rights and freedoms of the citizens, the sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity.

Once you take the oath, Nicușor Dan officially becomes the President of Romania.

The mandate of the President of Romania is 5 years and is exercised from the date of the oath. No person can perform the position of president of Romania except for at most two mandates.

Victoria in elections

Nicușor Dan won the presidential elections of May 18 with 6,168,642 votes (53.60%), while the gold leader, George Simion, obtained 5,339,053 votes (46.40%), according to the official results announced by the authorities. At the second round of the presidential elections 2025 they voted over 11.6 million Romanians.
