Romanian students, silver and bronze medals at the Asian Physics Olympiad in South Korea

Seven Romanian students won silver and bronze medals and an honorable mention at the 26th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad in Busan, South Korea, the Ministry of Education announced on Sunday.
“Three silver medals, three bronze medals and an honorable mention for Romania, at the Asian Physics Olympiad 2026!”, announced the Ministry of Education, on the Facebook page.
The awarded students are:
- Raul Covrig – National College “Dragoş Vodă” Sighetu Marmaţiei, Maramureş, silver medal,
- Teodor Bichir, International Theoretical High School of Informatics Bucharest, silver medal;
- Alexandru Condrea, International Theoretical High School of Informatics Bucharest, silver medal;
- Vlad Bolohan, International Theoretical High School of Informatics Bucharest, bronze medal;
- Bogdan Ciocârlan, International Theoretical High School of Informatics Bucharest, bronze medal;
- Bogdan Rusea, from the “Emil Racoviţă” National College in Cluj-Napoca, bronze medal;
- Albert Lupu, International Theoretical High School of Informatics Bucharest, honorable mention.
According to the Ministry of Education, the 26th edition of the Asian Physics Olympiad took place starting May 17, in Busan, South Korea, with the participation of 209 competitors from 27 countries (25 countries from the Asia-Pacific geographic region, together with Romania and Canada, with guest status).
The Romanian team was led by Prof. Dr. Delia Davidescu from the Bucharest International Theoretical High School of Informatics and by Univ. Dr. Sebastian Popescu from the Alexandru Ioan Cuza University in Iasi.
At the level of the Ministry of Education and Research, the coordination of the Olympics was ensured by the Directorate of Olympics, Competitions, Partnerships and Extracurricular Education, through Prof. Nagy Elisabeta Ana, MEC inspector.
