China is studying the Taiwanese islands. “Analogous to Russian infiltration of Crimea before the invasion”

The Chinese strategy aimed at Taiwan's external islands, such as Kinmen and Matsu, reflects Moscow's actions from 2014 before the invasion of Crimea-warned the CEO of the Taiwanese National Security Bureau (BBN) Tsai Ming-Yen, quoted on Thursday by the Taipei Times on Thursday.

Tsai formulated his comments, answering on Thursday to the questions of MP Lo Mei-Ling, which pointed to the similarities between the Russian justification of the invasion of Ukraine as “denazification” and comparison of President Laia Ching-Te to Adolf Hitler, made by the chairman of the nationalist party Kuomintang (KMT) Eric Ch. This party strives to “bring” Taiwan to China.

The head of the BBN noticed that the meeting of XI Jinping and Vladimir Putin, during which they declared “the fight against neonazism”, may indicate the formation of a narrative, who is legitimizing a possible invasion of Taiwan.

Taiwanese services, as he noted, analyze the course of the war in Ukraine in detail, identifying tactics that Beijing could imitate in a potential armed conflict against Taiwan, including the use of drones and Russian techniques of political propaganda and cognitive struggle.

Tsai also did not rule out that the increase in illegal crossing of the border by the Chinese may be part of spy activities directed by Beijing.

The communist authorities in Beijing say that Taiwan is part of China, although they have never exercised actual control over this territory. The leader of the PRC XI Jinping maintains that “unification of the homeland” is inevitable and is a condition of “the great revival of the Chinese nation.” Does not exclude armed intervention for this purpose.
