Trzaskowski on beer with Mentzen and Sikorski. “It won't prejudge the result”

Trzaskowski's beer with Mentzen will not prejudge the result of the second round of presidential elections – believes dr hab. Wojciech Puszyński, prof. UMK. In his opinion, it will not cause great changes in the distribution of support of the confederation electorate. The expert added that the KO candidate must go to the debate of TV Republika in Końskie.

Candidates in the presidential election – supported by PiS Karol Nawrocki and Rafał Trzaskowski – talked with Sławomir Mentzen (confederation) on his YouTube channel.

Trzaskowski after a Saturday conversation with Mentzen with him and people from his staff and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski drank beer in the Mentzen pub Toruń. “For Poland, which connects, does not divide,” wrote Sikorski on the X platform under the video from this meeting.

Prof. Wojciech Puszyński from the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń told PAP that the conversation on YouTube Mentzen with Trzaskowski was of a high level when it comes to culture. “You don't have to agree with each other, but you can talk to yourself in a cultural way, drink beer. I am very happy because I think that this is how the public debate should look.

In his opinion, both Trzaskowski and Mentzen showed something that has not been observed in the Polish public debate for years. “Pictures from Mentzen's pub in my opinion will not prejudge the result of the election. They may weigh in such a way that Trzaskowski will be able to win the voices of those who were not voting at all in the first round, outraged at the quality of Polish public debate. In the confederation electorate, this will not cause significant changes in the distribution of support,” said Peszyński.

According to the expert, it should be expected, and so it was before the meeting Trzaskowski-Mentzen, that about 20 percent of Mentzen's electorate may vote in the second round for Trzaskowski. In the opinion of Puszyński, the candidate supported by PiS – Karol Nawrocki – will achieve support in this electorate about 2/3.

“In my opinion, even part of the confederation related to the National Movement will not force Mentzena a clear declaration of support before the second round A delicate fan of the second round in the first round, the PiS polls will jump up. This electorate stays and will adhere with Mentzen, “said the political scientist.

Puszyński added that after a possible winning of Trzaskowski, some PiS deputies may even go to the confederation. Time in this case plays in favor of Mentzen.

When asked about the reception of a joint exit for Mentzen, Trzaskowski and Sikorski's beer at the Left Elektore, prof. Puszyński emphasized that photos from this “event” may alienate some of the supporters of the party together, which means that it will not go to vote in the second round of elections.

“Most of the Zandberg electorate, however, will vote for Trzaskowski. Magdalena Biejat's supporters are no longer completely, they will support Trzaskowski. They will have to bite their teeth and survive that Trzaskowski went for a beer with +fascist +, as recently called Mentzen, and support the candidate of Ko,” said Peszyński.

The expert clearly indicated that the exit to Trzaskowski and Mentzen would not prejudge the election result, but the key – again – may be a debate on Telewizja Republika in Końskie.

“Końskie is decisive so far, because after the debate in the town, which the staff was sought at that time, Trzaskowski's polls began to fall, and Nawrocki has grown. Now Trzaskowski has no way out. He has to go there. He must go there and take as many people as possible with him and talk to Nawrocki. Pictures from Telewizja Republika will be on all television. If Trzaskowski does not go, it will be an empty snap. They will put up a puppet and they will get on after the revelations, which came out about Nawrocki, Trzaskowski has a ball.

The expert assessed that for the first time in the history of presidential elections in Poland with a final result may determine 100 or 200,000 votes.
