Russia is finalizing the document. Will determine the terms of the peace agreement


“We are obliged to agree which have recently been reached in Istanbul between Russia and Ukraine delegations. As soon as the exchange of prisoners of war is completed, we will be ready to provide the Ukrainian side of the document, which the Russian side is finalizing” – said the head of Russian diplomacy Sergei Lavrov on Friday.

The minister introduced that the ongoing work relates to the detailed provisions of the second part of the Istanbul agreement, which is to designate the way to a “durable, long -term and comprehensive room” between two countries.
The starting point for the dialogue was the Ukrainian-Russian conversations in Istanbul of May 16. During this meeting, delegations agreed on further steps to prepare the concept of future arms suspension. As part of these conversations, the parties also undertook to conduct exchange of prisoners of war – one thousand people on each side of the conflictwhich was to be the foundation of the construction of mutual trust.

The first effects of the agreement on the exchange of prisoners are already visible. On Friday, Wołodymyr Zelanski announced that 390 people returned from Russian captivity to Ukraine. The similar number of prisoners was released by the Ukrainian authorities, as confirmed by the Russian side. This process is to be continued for the next days, this Saturday and Sunday.
