End of the subject of Canada annexation. Trump doesn't talk about it anymore

Hoekstra also referred to the speech of King Charles III planned for 27 May in the Canadian parliament, which at the invitation of Prime Minister Marek Carney will give a throne speech opening a new parliamentary session. For the last time the head of the British monarchy personally read the expose of the government in Canada in 1977 – it was then Queen Elizabeth II.
The presence of Charles III was recognized by some commentators as an expression of UK support against Canada, especially in the context of Donald Trump's previous statements. The Hoekstra ambassador commented on this by saying: “If (planned appearance of Charles III) is some message (from London), these are easier ways to transfer messages.” He also noted that Prime Minister Canada “may call the US president at any time.”
The ambassador added that the US authorities carefully look at the content of throne speech, “because it is the program of the ruling party”.
Canada “showed selection options”
In the context of trade relations between Canada and the USA, Prime Minister Carney emphasized that all agreements must take into account the abolition of American duties. Hoekstra confirmed that negotiations are underway, also in the case of customs tariffs.
One of the potential areas of cooperation is the participation of Canada in the American missile defense project “Golden Dome”. This was mentioned by Donald Trump on May 19, and Prime Minister Carney confirmed talks on this subject, but not revealing the details of a possible Canada contribution to an undertaking estimated at $ 175 billion. However, he called this project a “good idea”, pointing to “real threats” from China, North Korea and Russia “in a not too distant future.”
Carney pointed out that “Canada cooperates when he wants, and not because he must cooperate.” He also emphasized: “One of the reasons why we currently have more constructive talks with the USA is that we show our choice.”
