USR deputy Alexandru Dimitriu reacted to the SNOOP.ro investigation and asked the Foreign Minister “to explain the reasons why Tamila Andreea Cristescu, the daughter of former PSD deputy Radu Cristescu, was detached at the Romanian Consulate in New York, despite the fact that he has no diplomatic experience and nothing” press transmitted on Thursday to the party.
A Snoop.ro investigation shows that Tamila Cristescu was seconded to the General Consulate of Romania in New York after only a month of work in an institution subordinated to the City Hall of Sector 4. She is the daughter of the former PSD deputy Radu Cristescu-known for his anti-EU positions, as a frequently invited to RTV, and the one who claimed to the May 18.
On the website of the NY consulate, Tamila Cristescu appears as a “consular agent”, but in the communications of the institution of 2025 it was presented as “Viceconsul”. According to the Snoop questions, the posts were modified, and the young woman became “consular agent”.
According to the USR statement, the deputy Alexandru Dimitriu “argues that the detachment of Tamile Cristescu is a new proof of the total contempt for competence and meritocracy in the state apparatus, appointing a young woman of only 23 years and without any diplomatic experience in the position of vicecons and then a consular agent.”
“This is still an irresponsible decision, which deeply decredibms Romania in the eyes of its international partners. In one of the most important consular missions of our country, the Government chooses to send a young woman devoid of any professional training, just because-as it seems from public information-she has personal or political relations in the circle of power. Responsibility, experience and capacity for diplomatic representation.
In his address, the USR deputy asked for answers to the following questions.
1. Who from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has asked for the posting of Mrs. Tamila Cristescu in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs?
2. What did the Ministry of Foreign Affairs order the detachment of Mrs. Tamila Cristescu in New York?
3. What are the arguments by which Tamila Cristescu has become the position of consular agent in New York?
USR asked the interim foreign minister, Emil Hurezeanu, “to urgently review the procedure of detaching Cristescu to the Consulate of Romania in New York and to recall an emergency from the post.”
