The President of the European Parliament (EP), Roberta Metsola, published a message on Wednesday night following the informal meeting he had in Bucharest, during the evening, with the president elected Nicușor Dan.
“Together in Bucharest. Together for Europe. Together for Romania,” wrote Roberta Metsola, in a message published on the social network X, along with a photo in which he shakes Nicușor Dan.
The message, written in both English and Romanian, as well as the photo were posted around 00:30, on Wednesday night.

Previously, political sources stated, for Hotnews, that the president elected would meet the head on. The community executive then confirmed, in a press release, that Metsola will have an “informal meeting” with Nicușor Dan.
The meeting during the evening on Wednesday took place in the context in which Roberta Metsola will reach Timișoara, at the invitation of Mayor Dominic Fritz, to receive the “Timișoara Prize for European values”.
“I look forward to traveling to Romania at such an important moment for the country. I am proud to accept the Timisoara Prize for European values on behalf of the European Parliament. It is a tribute to our common European values, but also to our daily struggle to protect them. In times of uncertainty, Europe remains a lighthouse, of the Democracy, and of the Democracy. Freedom is never a given, it is won and it must be defended.

The head of the European Parliament will receive on Thursday, from 3:00 pm, the “Timișoara Prize for European values”. The prize also consists of an amount of 30,000 euros (collected from sponsorships from local companies), which Metsola refused. This amount of money is to be realated for the 2026 edition.
On the occasion of the visit to Timisoara, Roberta Metsola and Dominic Fritz will have a dialogue with 800 students and students from Timisoara and the region about Europe and the current challenges, which will take place at the Banatul Philharmonic.
Last year's winner for this prize was the president of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu.
The prize “Timișoara for European values”, in the second edition, is granted to international personalities who actively support the fundamental values of Europe.
The president of Nicușor Dan announced on Monday that he had a conversation with Roberta Metsola, in which Romania will continue to collaborate with European partners and to fulfill “the commitment to the values and objectives of the European Union”.
